Gordon B. Brammell (1933-2007)

Gordon B. Brammell of Grayson, Ky., died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2007, in Veterans Administration Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va.

Gordon was born Nov. 9, 1933, in Leon, in Carter County, Ky. He was the son of the late Virgil and Beatrice Counts Brammell.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Virgil Brammell Jr.; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Wooten Brammell; 
a granddaughter, Andrea Beth; a grandson, Jason Keith; and a brother-in-law, George Clark Jr.

Gordon was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, a businessman and the office manager of the dental practice of his son, Keith. 
He was a lifelong member of Wolf Creek Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, music director and Sunday school superintendent.

Among his survivors are his wife of 54 years, Mary Gambill Brammell; a son, Denny, and his wife, Teri; a son, Keith, and his wife, Cheryl; 
a granddaughter, Laura Lynne; and a grandson, Darren, all of Grayson. Additional survivors include a sister, Virginia Clark; 
a sister-in-law, Nadine Brammell, both of Grayson; and a brother, Leonard Brammell and his wife, Joyce, of Ashland.

Pallbearers will be his grandson, Darren, and cousins Gary, Bill, Jack and Fred Pope and George Brammell.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, 2007, at Wolf Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Harry Sanders, the current pastor, 
and Dr. Lee Gussler, a former pastor. 

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, 2007, at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson and after 10 a.m. Friday at the church. 
Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Wolf Creek Baptist Church, 2778 Ky. 1661, Grayson, KY 41143.
