Portsmouth Times, Tuesday, Nov. 2, 1943 Joseph Harris Joseph Harris, 75, passed away at 9:30 p.m. at his home 2193 Charles st. Born May 31, 1869, in Olive Hill, he was the son of Henry and Ann Clark Harris. He farmed in the Minford community for many years until two years ago when he moved here [unreadable]. Surviving beside his wife, Mary, are the following children, Denver of Owingsville, Ky., Ray of the U. S. navy at Bethesda, Md., Charlotte and Wilbur, at home, and two daughters by a former marriage, Bertha Simon of Miami, Fla., and Grace Engram of Lakeworth, Fla.; a brother, H. W. Harris of Louisa and two half-sisters, Rosa McClain and Lillie Howlan of Morehead. Three sisters preceded him in death. The body will be moved Wednesday noon from the Piatt and Gill funeral home to the Harris residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Thrusday at the Christian Baptist church, Fifth and Broadway sts. Rev. Hollie Conley officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn cemetery.
